Black Sabbath is a Heavy Metal band formed in 1969 by Guitarst, Tony Iomi. The band started out as Earth, a blues band. As they progressed, they began adding satanic elements to their music, and soon became Black Sabbath. In 1970, they released their self-titled debute album, which salitisfied it as the first "Heavy Metal" album. The album was panned by critics saying it was bad, stupid, and that "they will never make it as a band". But fans loved it, and they soon became popular. For the next couple of years, they would release more albums such as Paranoid, Master of Reality, Black Sabbath Vol. 4, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. In 1973, they moved to United States to exand the new genre, and began to abuse their fame by doing the rock and roll clich'e: Sex, Drugs, & Rock and Roll. Soon, it started to take them under as they release more albums such as Sabotage, Technical Ecstacy, and Never Say Die. Both 3 albums saw them moving away from their roots. By 1979, the band was getting out of control, but no one was out of control more than lead singer, Ozzy Osborne. Which he was fired from the band, and moved on to a solo caraer. The band was soon resurected by Ronnie James Dio. In 1980, they released an album, Heaven and Hell, which saw them not only returning to their heavier sound, but also urged a new era of their new music. They released one more album, The Mob Rules, before Dio left. Throughout many years, the band would survive many line-ups, with Tony Iomi being the only original member. But by 1986, the band would sart to break, as they released another album called Seventh Star. Although originoly Tony Iomi's solo album, It was a very drastic change and a more commercial sounding than any other of Black Sabbath's catelog. Despite the failed album, the band soldiered on, with an unending line-up change, releasing their last album, Forbidden. Then in 1997, the band reunited with every single original band member to 2006, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are currentely on hiatus
